Oshane Mamby known as Jahdon- the Congo Bongo Man, is an artiste on the rise. Impressive sounds, with high vibration lyrics and a jovial and wise spirit are what one can expect when engaging with Jahdon. Declared “Reggae Music’s Next Messenger,” by the Jamaica Gleaner in February 2020, the reggae singer, conscious songwriter, and entrepreneur is by far one of Jamaica’s current stand outs. His EP Congo Bongo has been blazing air waves across the globe and his newly released album 369 is a compilation of strong riddims, with catchy and meaningful lyrics reflecting the sounds of reggae, dancehall, ska and more. Congo Bongo Empress being one of this writer’s favorite tracks.
On a recent trip to the US, the artiste became immobilized due to quarantine requirements of Covid. Instead of becoming discouraged, Jahdon moved into a mode well known by Jamaicans – innovation mode. As a native of Canaan Heights, Clarendon– an area known as “Broom Town,” Jahdon holds the knowledge and skills of traditional broom making. Recognizing the plethora of raw materials available in the amount of palm thatch in South Florida, he got to work and blessed many in the US with handmade and personally signed house, yard and hand brooms.
Since returning to Jamaica, Jahdon has been on virtual tour with many radio and television interviews, as well as online and socially distanced in person performances. 369 is available on all streaming platforms; take a listen and you’ll see why he is one to pree!
